Standing Firm Under Trial | Hupomone
It's God's power in us that enables us to be strong in the Lord.
We need to have strength in the spirit and that's why the Bible tells us of Paul's experience in 2nd Corinthians 12. God said to him "My grace is sufficient for you because my power is made perfect in weakness".
So, it's not about us being strong, it's about God making us strong so we have a part in strengthening ourselves and also a part in relying on God for that strength. In the midst of that, God gives us a source of protection and he tells us to put on the full armor of God
God wants us to put it on, we have a responsibility to stand against the devil's schemes. This word “stand” is "steta" in Greek where we get our word status from or static.
So, Paul is saying through the Spirit of God, that we are to take our stand against the devil's schemes. You don't have to advance, you don't have to have great vision during that timeframe, we have to Hupomone.
You know the word "Hupo" -under, "mone" - to remain and it means to stay under a trial and not move. To stay, be static, to be unmovable in the midst of the devil’s schemes until God lifts it until God delivers us.
So, that's our clarion call when we're facing trials of various kinds and remember in the midst of this, we're not surviving this problem, we are victorious in the midst of it because it becomes a platform and a backdrop for the artistry of God as he declares his praise and the manifold wisdom of his plan when people like us under pressure and under duress, and under trial, hold firm to Christ.
