This is a fascinating book, it's very short, it's only five chapters and we'll follow that up with second Thessalonians which is just a few chapters. In this book Paul addresses issues like salvation by grace, faith and works, predestination and sanctification, Holy Spirit and the gift of prophecy, and in particular the rapture of the church the great tribulation and the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I've shared with you many times that one of the most important aspects of motivation for me in my Christian life is the second coming of Jesus. I hold to that I'm looking forward to it, I'm anticipating it, I get up regularly and have my quiet times and when I when I'm thinking about the Lord, one of the first things that comes to mind is that Today Could Be the Day! It encourages me, it motivates me, it inspires me, and I can't wait for it!

I look forward to the coming of Christ and the rapture of the church and this book is one of the premier books that the apostle Paul has written on the issue of end times.

In fact, it's the only book that he's written that deals in particular with the end times. In fact, it's been referred to as the Eschatological Epistles of Paul. Eschatological just means the end times, Epistles means letters.

So, it's the end times letter of Paul as it relates to the second coming of Christ and so it has a lot of affection in my heart because I enjoy so much the fruit that comes from the anticipation of the coming of Jesus Christ. As a result, it deals a lot with holiness and with the preparation of the hearts of the Thessalonica church to be ready for that day, the certainty of that day, but also to be prepared spiritually for that day in their own lives.
